Your Stripe account
The Painted Porch is built around one principle: the vendor owns the Stripe account, not the platform. When you set up Stripe during onboarding, you connect your own account. Money lands in your balance. Payouts go to your bank. You can log into dashboard.stripe.com and see everything.
Two ways money flows
When someone buys from paintedporch.market (the marketplace)
We collect the payment on the platform's Stripe account, then immediately transfer your portion (minus the Stripe fee proportional to your share) to your Connect account. Your receipt shows "The Painted Porch" because we were the merchant of record for that transaction.
When someone buys from handmadebyjane.com (your own domain)
Payment goes straight to your Stripe balance. The receipt shows your business name (e.g. "Handmade by Jane") because you were the merchant of record. We never touch the money.
Either way, we take 0% commission on paid tiers. The only fee deducted is Stripe's standard processing fee (2.9% + $0.30), which goes to Stripe, not us.
What you see in Payouts
Go to Payouts in your dashboard. You'll see every transaction broken out:
- Gross — what the buyer paid
- Stripe fees — Stripe's processing fee (not ours)
- Platform fee — $0.00 on paid tiers
- Net — what landed in your Stripe balance

FAQ
"Do I need a Stripe account before signing up?" No. During onboarding we pre-fill a new Stripe signup with your shop name, email, and URL. Takes about 5 minutes.
"Can I connect an existing Stripe account?" Yes — and it's the fastest path. Your existing account has no payout hold; new accounts hold payouts for 2–7 days while Stripe verifies.
"Do you take a cut of Porch Pro fees?" Partial. On a $8 Porch Pro fee, $3 goes to the vendor, $5 to the Porch Pro host. Platform takes $0.
"What about the 10% on Free Porch?" Free Porch vendors pay 10% commission (platform_fee_bps = 1000) because we're covering the Stripe account on their behalf during the free tier. Upgrade to The Shop or Anchor and it drops to 0%.
